The Kobelyatskyi District Court of the Poltava Region found the former head of one of the territorial communities of the region guilty of a completed attempted murder committed by order. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, informs DBR press office.
At the end of 2022, employees of the SBI established that the murder of a businessman from the Poltava region was being prepared, for which an active search for perpetrators among representatives of the criminal environment was underway. The head of the community had a long conflict with the entrepreneur. In the end, in order to eliminate the opponent, the official decided to find a killer to fulfill the “order”.
In order to prevent the murder and expose the organizer of the crime, a complex special operation was carried out with the involvement of technical means and agents of the Security Intelligence Service. The official offered $5,000 for the businessman’s murder. The money was planned to be transferred in two parts – he transferred the deposit in December 2022, and promised the rest after receiving evidence of the crime – photos of the murdered person and his personal belongings.
As part of the control over the commission of the crime, law enforcement officers staged a murder. The client was given staged photos of the “corpse” and some belongings of the victim. Later, the investigation was handed over to the National Police, which, based on the materials of the SBI, sent the indictment to the court.
The former official was found guilty of attempted murder on commission (part 2 of article 15, paragraph 11 of part 2 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The public prosecution in court was supported by the prosecutors of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
