The French car concern Renault plans to manufacture drones in Ukraine. They intend to deploy production several tens or hundreds of kilometers from the front line. About this informs France Info.
To launch the production lines, Renault intends to cooperate with one of the French small or medium-sized enterprises that work in the field of defense. Production will be located several tens or hundreds of kilometers from the combat zone. The representatives of the car company confirmed that they were approached by the government, but noted that “no decision has been made at this stage.”
“This partnership is a real turning point in the company’s policy – more than three years after the start of the war in Ukraine – and a symbol of the period of rearmament of Europe and announced large-scale investments in the defense industry,” – the message says.
For the first time, the information that the French car manufacturer will produce drones on the territory of Ukraine in cooperation with defense companies came from the Minister of Defense of France, Sébastien Lecorne. He noted that drones are being created for the needs of Ukrainian forces, but at the same time, the French army will also receive these devices for constant tactical and operational training in accordance with the conditions of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine. The minister did not specify the type of drones.
In addition, Lecornu emphasized that there is no need to “ask French citizens” to go to work on Ukrainian production lines. According to him, the Ukrainians have an advantage over the French in the development of drones and, in particular, in the formation of the doctrine of their use.
