Google adds Gemini AI to Chrome browser

Google Company announced about the integration of its Gemini AI assistant into the Chrome browser. Thanks to this innovation, users will be able to quickly get explanations for complex information on web pages or a concise summary of it. In the future, Gemini will be able to work with several tabs at the same time and even switch between sites independently.
After the update, a new icon will appear in the upper right corner of Chrome. By clicking on it, the user will open a chat window with Gemini, which can be moved and resized. Through it, you can ask questions about the content of the open page.
During the demo, Chrome’s Charmaine D’Silva showed how Gemini works with an example of a travel gear site. She activated the prompt and the AI generated a list of key sleeping bag features. She then asked if the product was suitable for camping in Maine, and Gemini formed an answer based on data from the site and open sources. After going to another site with a similar product, she asked to compare the two sleeping bags, and the AI created a table with the main differences.
Initially, users will be able to interact with the AI by switching between tabs manually. Over time, the functionality will expand — Gemini will be able to work with several tabs at the same time. Google also showed off a future navigation feature: a user asked the AI to scroll through a cooking site to an ingredient block and convert sugar from cups to grams, both of which Gemini successfully completed.
The feature has already been launched in test mode for users aged 18 and over who use English on Windows and macOS. As noted by the vice president and general manager of Chrome at Google, the new feature is available only to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Ultra, as well as to users of beta, canary and dev versions of the browser.
