The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, arrived in Switzerland for an international summit and met with the President of Switzerland, Viola Amgerd. He published the corresponding video from this meeting on his Telegram channel.
“Today, the Summit represents all parts of the world, all continents, different nations – every political pole of our world: Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, the Pacific region, Australia, North America – all“, Zelensky emphasized in his address.
He noted the importance of each nation’s views, ideas and leadership to the peace process discussed at the summit. “I believe that we will see here, at the Summit, how history is made“, the head of the Ukrainian state added.
Ukraine hopes to get a communique from the summit that will cover energy security, including nuclear, free navigation and prisoner exchange.
Russia was not invited to this summit, and China refused to participate, which caused sharp criticism from NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The delegations of Mexico and Saudi Arabia also did not appear at the G20 summit.
A day before the start of the summit, Russian leader Vladimir Putin expressed his “conditions” for ending the war with Ukraine, which include refusing to join NATO and giving up certain territories.
