Google ends support for Assistant and switches to Gemini

Google is official announced about the end of support for Google Assistant, which was launched in 2016. This decision is connected with the introduction of a new artificial intelligence Gemini, which has improved language understanding and enhanced logical thinking capabilities.

The company explains that users want a more personalized assistant with wider functionality. According to Google, Gemini is already used by millions of people who have positively evaluated its capabilities. It is currently available in 200 countries and supports 40 languages.

In the coming months, the company will update even more devices, replacing Google Assistant with Gemini. By the end of the year, the former voice assistant will be unavailable on most mobile devices and will disappear from app stores.

Devices that do not meet the minimum requirements (Android 10 or later and at least 2GB of RAM) will be able to continue using Google Assistant. In addition to smartphones, Gemini will be integrated into tablets, cars, smartwatches and home devices. Google promises a smooth transition and preservation of key functions of the previous assistant.
