The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine satisfied the lawsuit of the Ministry of Justice in the second case against the Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska and the company “Rusal” MKPAT, passing a decision on the confiscation of assets in favor of the state. The total amount of recovery exceeds 2 billion hryvnias, reported press service of the Ministry of Justice.
As part of the court decision, the state received more than 440,000 tons of bauxite and 110,000 tons of alumina — raw materials, the total value of which is more than 2 billion hryvnias. These assets belonged to the Swiss company RS International GmbH, which is controlled by previously sanctioned individuals.
In addition, the right of claim of this company under the contract of “customer raw materials” passed into state ownership, on the basis of which bauxite entered the territory of Ukraine. The Ministry of Justice emphasized that the identification and seizure of assets became possible thanks to the joint work of a number of state bodies, in particular the Security Service of Ukraine.
We will remind that at the end of January 2025, according to the SBU materials, the court arrested a large batch of industrial raw materials belonging to a sanctioned Russian oligarch. We are talking about almost half a million tons of bauxite and alumina, produced even before the start of the full-scale invasion. Raw materials were stored in the warehouses of the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant, which used to belong to Deripaska. Its total value exceeds 2.11 billion hryvnias.
100% of the corporate rights to the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant have also been transferred to state ownership by decision of the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Deripaska used to operate this company. In August 2024, the State Property Fund of Ukraine announced its intention to put the plant up for privatization.
Oleg Deripaska is one of the people closest to Vladimir Putin and is involved in the production of products for Russia’s defense industry. Rusal, a company controlled by him, supplied aluminum products to enterprises of the Russian military industry, which are engaged in the production of weapons, equipment and ammunition for the Russian army.
