Zelenskyy talks to Fico for the first time during his visit to Brussels

During the meeting of the European Council in Brussels, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a conversation with the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico for the first time. After the meeting, Zelenskyi shared his impressions with journalists, emphasizing the importance of maintaining “normal relations” between Ukraine and Slovakia.

The President of Ukraine was asked about Fico’s recent statement that Ukraine’s invitation to NATO “will not be free”, as well as whether he discussed this issue with the Slovak delegation. Zelensky confirmed that he had a conversation with Fico on Thursday, noting that the details of the conversation would remain confidential.

“I have already said a lot to Mr. Fico today. I think it is important for us to maintain normal relations between the countries. His country is not at war – thank God, and I wish his people peace so that they never see what Putin can bring to their country. It’s good that he doesn’t feel it. But he has to support us, otherwise he will have to understand. Because Putin will never stop if he is not stopped.”, – emphasized the head of state.

The President of Ukraine also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing dialogue between Kyiv and Bratislava.

It will be recalled that during the European Union summit held in Brussels, Zelenskyi presented a plan for Ukraine’s victory in the war with Russia. He emphasized that Ukraine is ready for real diplomacy, but this requires strength. Part of this plan contains classified items for which Ukraine is requesting international support.

It also became known that Ukraine seeks to receive an invitation to NATO before US President Joe Biden leaves his post.
