HACCU closes criminal proceedings against former head of Chernihivnaftogazgeologiya

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has closed the criminal case against Chernihivnaftogazgeologiya, a subsidiary of NJSC Nadra Ukrayiny, for causing UAH 2.19 million in damages to its former director, Hryhoriy Bulava, in connection with his death.
The decision was made by the HACC after the SAPO prosecutor and Bulava’s widow filed motions to close the case. The court granted their requests.
“The motion of the SAPO prosecutor and the application of the accused’s widow to close the criminal proceedings in connection with the death of the accused and to cancel the measures to ensure criminal proceedings are granted. The criminal proceedings on charges of Bulava of committing criminal offences under Part 5 of Article 27, Part 5 of Article 191, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine shall be closed on the basis of paragraph 5 of Part 1 of Article 284 of the CPC of Ukraine,” the decision reads.
In this case, the NABU and SAPO indicted not only Bulava, but also the company’s chief engineer Andriy Khomyak, former director of the Levadnyk production base Yulia Solomka, her former deputy Vadym Lykov, and five employees of the Pryluky oil and gas exploration expedition.
According to the investigation, in July 2016, Chernihivnaftogazgeologiya leased 248 drill pipes worth about UAH 2.2 million to a private company. The lessee company immediately subleased them to another entity, which was supposed to return the equipment in September of the same year, but failed to do so. Despite this, the documents showed that the drill pipes had been returned.
The investigation believes that to conceal the absence of the pipes, employees of the Pryluky Expedition drew up forged documents according to which the drilling equipment was rejected and turned into ferrous scrap.
