How much do Ukrainians earn in Poland?

The way of life of most Ukrainians in Poland can be called fairly modest by the standards of this country. The salary of most of our citizens in the neighboring country does not exceed 5 thousand zlotys (48-49 thousand UAH). At the same time, the average salary in the country is more than 7.1 thousand zlotys. In addition, a significant proportion of Ukrainians generally work for the minimum wage. This is evidenced by the results of the study “Polish labor market barometer”, which was conducted by the Personnel Service company.

Survive on 500 zlotys

It is interesting that the life of Ukrainians in Poland can be called “modest” not because of earnings, but because of the amount of expenses. About 48% of Ukrainian citizens spend up to 500 zlotys per month on themselves. The indicator is so low because the expenses per person are taken into account, and if the family has two children, then the total expenses will be PLN 2,000.

It is worth noting that Ukrainians spend little, also because they actively use benefits or free services from employers. Yes, 60% of them have free housing or pay only part of the rent. 73% of Ukrainians who have a job use free transport from their employers and/or receive lunches at the expense of the company.

Not everyone lives modestly

About 29% of Ukrainians working in Poland spend an amount from PLN 300 to PLN 1,000 per month on themselves. Another 14% spend from 1 to 2 thousand zlotys. Ukrainians save the rest of the earned money.

Despite the misunderstandings that arose on the Polish border and the dissatisfaction of some Poles with the mass influx of refugees, the employers of the neighboring country highly value Ukrainian workers and willingly hire them.

“If employers were asked who they most want to hire, Poles would be in first place, and Ukrainians in second place. Entrepreneurs appreciate the linguistic and cultural closeness of Ukrainians and their ability to quickly adapt to a new place,” says Krzysztof Inglot, founder Personnel Service.

How many Ukrainians work in Poland?

At the end of March, 762,200 Ukrainian citizens were employed in Poland. The number of employees here is growing. Over the year, the number of Ukrainians working in Poland increased by 3%.
