Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia call for the return of pre-war quotas for Ukrainian agricultural imports

The ministers of agriculture of Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia are calling for the return of pre-war quotas for the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. About this stated Minister of Agriculture of Poland Czeslaw Siekerski.

“All these are open debates. And we have the position of the four countries. But at this time, as the presiding country, we are neither for nor against, because even if we as a country are a party, we as the presiding country must seek compromises. We will have a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on March 13, and we are also constantly maintaining bilateral contacts.” — said Sekersky.

He emphasized that future trade decisions depend on the military situation in Ukraine and possible changes in EU trade policy. In addition, the Polish minister drew attention to the need for Ukraine to comply with European standards in the field of agriculture and sustainable development.

“And our negotiations, our bilateral negotiations should also contain what the Ukrainian side will offer, that is, adopt our standards and requirements for agricultural production in Europe, or standards in the field of sustainable development there, in Ukraine.” – he noted.
