The former ambassador of Belarus to Germany committed suicide after being interrogated by the KGB: details

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus announced the death of the country’s former ambassador to Germany, Denys Sydorenko, only four days after the tragedy that occurred on June 23.

Opposition media claim that the diplomat jumped from a high-rise building in Minsk. The official statement of the foreign policy department does not contain details of the incident, describing Sydorenko as a “talented diplomat and patriot.”

48-year-old Sydorenko served as ambassador to Germany from 2016 to March 2024, when he was dismissed by a decree of Alexander Lukashenko. After returning to Belarus, he did not receive a new position in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, according to opposition sources, became the object of increased attention of special services.

Sources report that the diplomat was repeatedly interrogated and polygraphed, which could lead to a tragic end. Insiders claim that all diplomats returning from the EU are now subject to thorough vetting by the Belarusian special services.

At the same time, publications opposed to the regime of Alexander Lukashenko report that the diplomat became the object of close attention of the Belarusian special services after returning from a business trip to Poland. He was constantly taken to interrogations and tested on a polygraph.

Apparently, he couldn’t stand what was happening”, — added another informed interlocutor of the publication.

Sydorenko’s death is not the first case of the mysterious death of high-ranking officials in Belarus. Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Volodymyr Makei, and the Minister of Transport, Oleksiy Avramenko, died under unexplained circumstances.
