Identification for pensioners: who is obliged to pass it

In Ukraine, pensioners who have the status of internally displaced persons (IDPs) received by February 24, 2022 must undergo an identification procedure. This requirement is established to confirm the identity of the pension recipient and prevent possible cases of fraud. According to the rules, this procedure is carried out every six months.
The identification allows the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) to make sure that the payments go directly to the pensioner to whom they are intended. This is a necessary measure to ensure transparency and proper distribution of social benefits.
Pensioners can choose one of several available methods for the procedure:
- Personal visit:
- A pensioner can contact any branch of JSC “Oschadbank” or the service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. To do this, you need to have an identity document with you (passport of a citizen of Ukraine).
- Online through a personal account on the website of the Pension Fund:
- It is necessary to authorize using a remote qualified electronic signature “Action.Signature”, which can be created through the mobile application “Action”. This is convenient for those who have access to the Internet and have basic skills for working with online services.
- Via video conference:
- A pensioner can undergo identification through a video link, which allows the procedure to be carried out remotely without the need to visit the office.
- Through foreign diplomatic institutions:
- This method is intended for IDP pensioners who are currently abroad. They can apply to consulates or embassies of Ukraine, where they will be provided with assistance in carrying out identification.
If the pensioner does not comply with this requirement, payments may be suspended until his identity is confirmed. This can lead to temporary financial difficulties, so it is important to follow the deadlines and complete the procedure on time.
