Ukraine is preparing to join the European Network of Employment Services: what benefits will it bring

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a plan of measures necessary to prepare for the country’s accession to the European Network of Employment Services (EURES). This will allow Ukraine to integrate into the European labor market and promote the free movement of labor.

The decision was made at a government meeting on October 29 as part of the recommendations presented by the European Commission in the Report on Ukraine’s Progress in the EU Enlargement Package for 2023. informs Ministry of Economy.

According to the new plan, preparation involves adapting Ukrainian systems to EURES standards, as well as ensuring technical compatibility with European labor market databases.

One of the important tasks is to bring the national classification of professions into compliance with European standards, which will contribute to a more effective comparison of vacancies and resumes on the European labor market.

Ukraine will also study the experience of Poland and Croatia, which are already part of the EURES network, in particular in matters of attracting students, trainees and labor market intermediaries.

Currently, EURES unites 31 countries of the EU and the European Economic Area, offering more than 4 million vacancies for job seekers and employers in Europe.

The Ministry of Economy and the State Employment Service of Ukraine are also working to increase the potential of vocational education centers that train specialists according to the needs of employers by 5-10 times, to help businesses overcome the personnel shortage.
