In Bosnia, more than 200 thousand houses were left without electricity due to snowfall

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, more than 200,000 houses were left without electricity due to a heavy snowstorm. The storm caused large-scale disruptions in several countries of the Balkan region. About this informs Reuters.

The settlements in the north-west and in the central part of Bosnia were the most affected. Although the snowfall has stopped, many roads remain blocked, making it difficult to access many towns and villages.

“Our crews are constantly on the ground doing everything they can”, – said Yelena Markovych, press secretary of the distribution company Elektroprenos BiH.

The snowstorm also affected neighboring countries. In Croatia, emergency services rescued 48 people who were buried under snow in the central part of the Lika region. In Slovenia, strong winds and snow prevented a rescue helicopter from reaching a Hungarian tourist who has been trapped in the Alps since Sunday.
