EU and the world

In December, Ukraine will receive an additional €4.2 billion from the EU

In December 2024, the European Union will provide Ukraine with an additional 4.2 billion euros to support the state budget in the face of a full-scale Russian invasion. Starting from January 2025, Kyiv will receive 1.5 billion euros monthly from the EU.

About this told President of the European Council Antonio Kosta during a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyi. According to him, the funds are provided at the expense of revenues from frozen Russian assets and can be used for Ukraine’s military needs.

“Already this month, the European Union will provide Ukraine with an additional 4.2 billion euros in order to support the Ukrainian budget. In addition to this, starting next month, we will provide 1.5 billion euros of aid every month for another year.”, Koshta emphasized.

He also noted that the EU is preparing the 15th package of sanctions against Russia, aimed at increasing economic pressure on Russia in order to limit its ability to wage war.

Earlier, the European Council approved the allocation of 4.1 billion euros of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program. According to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, these funds should be directed to the state budget by the end of 2024. Allocation of funding within the program is subject to the fulfillment of certain indicators, and the European Commission positively assessed the fulfillment of such indicators in the third quarter.
