In South Korea, the suspended president was interrogated

Investigators conducted a lengthy interrogation of the President of South Korea, Yoon Seok-yeol, who was arrested and placed in a pre-trial detention center. Within 48 hours, the authorities must decide whether to obtain a warrant for his detention for up to 20 days. About this informs Reuters.

Yoon Seok Yeol arrived for questioning at the Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) after more than three thousand police officers surrounded his residence to make an arrest.

“I decided to respond to the CIO’s investigation, even though it was illegal, to prevent unsightly bloodshed.” Yun noted.

He was taken to the CIO’s office through a back door, accompanied by a prosecutor, to avoid meeting the media. During the interrogation, an incident occurred near the building: an unknown man, about 60 years old, committed self-immolation, received serious burns and lost consciousness.

CIO officials said Yoon refused to testify and did not allow the interview to be videotaped. The reasons for this decision are unknown. After the interrogation, the presidential motorcade left the office late in the evening. Yoon is expected to be held at the Seoul Detention Center, where other high-ranking officials are also being held.
