In the first half of 2024, Ukraine increased the production of iron, rolled steel and steel
In June, average daily production reached 24,500 tons, the highest in 28 months of full-scale war.

In the first half of 2024, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises increased the production of pig iron by 22.3%, steel – by 37%, rolled products – by 32.2%. This is evidenced data association “Ukrmetalurgprom”.
Thus, for January-June 2024, the following was produced:
- cast iron 3.47 million tons (+22.3% compared to the same period of 2023);
- steel 3.87 million tons (+37%);
- rolled 3.14 million tons (+32.2%).
Compared to June 2023, in June 2024, pig iron production increased by 29.4%, steel smelting – by 68.4%, rolled products – by 45.8%.
Average daily steel production in June reached 24,500 tons, the highest in 28 months of full-scale war.
In June, pig iron production amounted to 628,600 t, which is 4% less than in May, steel production was 734,700 t (-0.4%), and rolled metal production decreased to 571,500 t (-4%).
In 2023, pig iron smelting by Ukrainian industrial enterprises amounted to 6 million tons, which is 6.1% less than in 2022, steel smelting was 6.23 million tons (-0.6% y/y), and the production of rolled products increased by 0 .4% to 5.37 million tons.
In the first quarter of 2024, metallurgical plants of Ukraine produced 1.59 million tons (+32%) of pig iron, 1.69 million tons (+37%) of steel, 1.39 million tons (+35.5%) of rolled steel. The growth of quarterly indicators is caused by a low base of comparison. In the first quarter of last year, Ukrainian enterprises faced electricity restrictions due to Russian shelling.
