In Ukraine, a new profession – “deminer” will be officially introduced: the Ministry of Economy
After the approval of the standard, measures will be taken to introduce the new profession into the legal field.
The National Qualifications Agency has approved the new professional standard “Operator for the search of explosive objects (deminer)”. This initiative was started by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, and the development of the standard was carried out by “Sherif-Rozminuvany” LLC in cooperation with experts of the Ministry and key participants of the sector. informs Ministry of Economy.
Deputy Minister of Economy Ihor Bezkaravainy noted that until now there was no official standard for the deminer profession in Ukraine. Humanitarian demining operators were forced to independently develop specialist training programs.
“The presence of an official professional standard that meets the international requirements of IMAS (International Mine Action Standards) establishes uniform rules for everyone and significantly expands the opportunities for training deminers. It will also allow veterans to be involved in humanitarian demining, giving them the opportunity to work in both Ukrainian and in international organizations”, he noted.
The Ministry of Economy also announced that after the approval of the standard, a number of measures will be taken to introduce the new profession into the legal field, including assigning a code and streamlining wages. On the basis of this standard, an educational program will be developed that will allow the graduation of certified deminers.
The approved standard allows specialists with international certificates to confirm their qualifications in Ukraine. This means that Ukrainian deminers who will undergo training according to the new standard will be able to work in international companies without the need for additional training.
The new standard provides for 5 levels of training. The basic level allows you to perform a non-technical inspection, the next level – a technical inspection. The following levels include the demining of territories, buildings and other objects.
“We expect that this standard will become the basis for the training of highly qualified specialists capable of effectively performing demining tasks both in Ukraine and abroad.”, – added Ihor Bezkaravainy.
