The Ministry of Veterans announced the start of work of specialists to support veterans

Specialists in accompanying veterans will start working in December, stated Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Natalia Kalmykova.

She said that more than a thousand people applied for this important position. A reformatting of the Veterans Support Service is currently underway, which will work directly at the community level, providing initial contact and support for those returning from military service to civilian life.

According to Kalmykova, the necessary funds have already been allocated to finance the work of specialists, and now the training of trainers is underway, after which the training of the specialists themselves will begin.

“In December, this system will be operational and will be rolled out to all communities. It is, rather, a brother and a step-sister, a friend to whom you can turn.”, she noted.

The functionality of support specialists will include not only counseling, but also help in organizing the receipt of necessary services, and if necessary, even representation of the interests of veterans in various instances. This will allow solving various problems faced by veterans during their return to peaceful life.

Nataliya Kalmykova paid special attention to the rehabilitation of wounded veterans. She emphasized the importance of career guidance even at the rehabilitation stage:

“Our goal is to combine medical, psychological and professional components so that each veteran has a clear vision of his future and moves towards new life goals.”, – the official emphasized.

We will remind that back in September, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs was informed of the receipt of 538 applications for the position of specialists in accompanying war veterans and demobilized persons, which indicates the significant interest and relevance of this initiative.
