In Ukraine, the number of road accidents has increased significantly: the Patrol Police has named the reasons
Since the beginning of 2024, there has been a significant increase in the number of traffic accidents with fatal consequences and injuries on the roads of Ukraine. By data According to the Patrol Police of Ukraine, in the period from January to August 2024, 1,918 people died in road accidents, and another 20,862 people were injured.
Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of accidents with fatalities and injuries increased by 10.5%, reaching a mark of 16,621 cases. The main cause of such tragedies remains speeding, which killed 1,093 people.
The second most frequent cause of fatal traffic accidents is the violation of maneuvering rules, which led to the death of 305 people. The third common cause of accidents was the carelessness of pedestrians who crossed the road in unspecified places. As a result, 82 people died.
A particularly critical time for road accidents is the evening hours — from 5 to 7 p.m., when the largest number of accidents is recorded. Friday turned out to be the most dangerous day for road users, when most incidents occur.
