MPs support draft law on veteran entrepreneurship
On October 29, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported it in the first reading draft law No. 10258, which is aimed at the development of veteran entrepreneurship. This bill, introduced back in November 2023, offers a number of innovations and supports for veterans who want to start or grow their own business.
The draft law amends the Economic Code, defining that social entrepreneurship is a form of entrepreneurial activity aimed at achieving socially useful goals, in particular, solving social or environmental issues for certain groups of the population.
The main provisions of the draft law include the definition of key terms such as “entities of veteran entrepreneurship” and “veteran social entrepreneurship”. The document also defines the main goals, objectives and principles of state policy in this area.
The bill proposes:
- the procedure for obtaining and losing the status of a veteran enterprise;
- introduction of record keeping of information about veteran business entities in the Unified State Register of War Veterans;
- various types and forms of state support for veteran businesses;
- the basis of international cooperation in the development of veteran entrepreneurship.
This move by the Verkhovna Rada opens up new opportunities for veterans, encouraging them to create businesses that will not only contribute to economic development, but also help solve important social and environmental challenges.
