The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved changes to the procedure for examining drivers for drug intoxication. From now on, the police will be able to use special tests for the presence of drugs in the driver’s body directly at the stop.

In the case of a positive test result, the driver will be sent to a medical facility for a laboratory test that will confirm or deny the presence of narcotic substances.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that such changes will make it possible to more effectively detect drivers under the influence of drugs and increase road safety. At the same time, the implementation of the new procedure will not require additional costs from the state or local budgets.
“It is important that the implementation of this act will not require additional costs from the state and local budgets of Ukraine“, the ministry emphasized.
The new review rules will enter into force after the official publication of the relevant resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.
