India accused the United States of destabilizing the situation in the country

India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has accused the US State Department and other US government agencies of trying to destabilize the country. About this informs Reuters.

The announcement came as a surprise as relations between New Delhi and Washington have strengthened significantly over the past 20 years, and both countries have previously declared their intention to continue deepening cooperation despite their differences.

The Gandhi-led Congress Party made use of materials published by the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Project (OCCRP). It refers to the company Adani Group, which is accused of having close ties with the government. This became a reason for criticism of Prime Minister Modi.

Last month, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani and seven others were indicted in the US for their involvement in a corruption scheme that involved bribing Indian officials to the tune of $265 million. The company called these accusations unfounded.

The OCCRP materials also contain accusations that Indian government hackers used the Israeli Pegasus spy software to spy on government opponents. The government previously denied involvement in these actions.
