India is preparing for active participation in the war in Ukraine: US State Department

Having great influence around the world, India is trying to be more active in the international arena.

US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell said that the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Moscow indicates India’s desire to play a more active role in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. About this informs Reuters, citing Campbell’s speech at a Senate hearing.

“We will most likely hear news about India’s more direct involvement in the affairs of Ukraine. I am grateful for that. I think India wants to play a responsible role at the global level“, – noted Campbell in the Committee on International Relations of the US Senate.

The Indian Embassy in Washington, commenting on Campbell’s statement, drew attention to the press briefing of Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. During the briefing, Jaishankar emphasized the need to step up efforts to stimulate negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine. He emphasized that India maintains contacts with both sides of the conflict.

“We believe that we should be more active”, – said Jaishankar.

He added that before his visit to Moscow, Prime Minister Modi met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in Italy. The move shows India’s desire to play a constructive role in international efforts to resolve the conflict.

“I can reasonably expect that there will be more contacts between us and Ukraine, as well as between us and Russia”, – added Jaishankar.

India, as one of the largest and most influential countries in the world, seeks to take a more active role in international affairs and promote stability at the global level. Her diplomatic efforts can become an important factor in finding a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine.

Kurt Campbell expressed optimism about increasing India’s involvement in matters related to Ukraine and emphasized the importance of international support in efforts to stop Russian aggression.
