International partners to help rebuild 11 schools in Ukraine destroyed by war

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, with the financial support of the German government, has launched the project ‘Rebuilding Schools in War-Affected Regions’. This is reported on the UNDP website, citing information from the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.

The project involves the repair and reconstruction of 11 educational institutions in several regions of Ukraine.

As part of this project, it is planned to restore classrooms and other school facilities damaged by shelling in five regions of Ukraine: Kirovohrad, Lviv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy regions. The reconstruction involves not only repairing damaged walls, windows, floors and roofs, but also modern finishes that will make the space comfortable and aesthetically pleasing for students and teachers.

The project also focuses on energy efficiency in these schools, which includes replacing old heating systems, windows and doors with more modern and energy-efficient ones. Insulation of the facades and installation of new lighting systems will significantly reduce energy consumption, providing a warm and comfortable learning environment throughout the year.

In addition, new furniture will be purchased for the schools: desks, chairs, blackboards and bookcases. The initiative will allow more than 6,000 students and 500 teachers to return to school in safe and renovated conditions.
