Prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office passed the decision to complete the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings against the head of the Department of National Statehood Protection of the Security Service of Ukraine, who was exposed for demanding illegal benefits in the amount of 300,000 US dollars.
The investigation established that the unit under the leadership of the suspect carried out the procedural instructions of the investigator of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police in the case related to the organization of an illegal channel for crossing the state border for persons who evade mobilization.
With the participation of two mediators, one of whom previously worked in the SBU, the official demanded 300,000 US dollars from the person involved in the case in exchange for the destruction of part of the materials, as well as providing information about already established facts. In case of refusal, he threatened to be prosecuted under serious charges.
During the investigation, the transfer of a part of the agreed amount — 72 thousand US dollars — was documented. The actions of the official are qualified under part. 4 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, his accomplices – according to ch. 5th century 27, ch. 4 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
At this stage, on the instructions of the SAP prosecutor, NABU detectives opened the materials of the criminal proceedings to the defense for perusal.
