Israel strikes Beirut despite truce with Hezbollah

Israel launched an airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs, saying it attacked a Hezbollah “high-precision missile” depot, despite a five-month ceasefire. About this informs BBC.
An hour before the attack, the Israeli army announced the evacuation of Hadat residents. According to the military, the warehouse with “high-precision missiles” of “Hezbollah” allegedly posed a serious threat to Israel and its civilian population.
“The storage of rockets at this infrastructure facility is a flagrant violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon and poses a threat to the State of Israel and its civilian population,” – says the statement of the Israeli military.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun strongly condemned the Israeli strike, calling on the US and France, which brokered a truce in November, to “take responsibility” and “force Israel to stop its attacks immediately”.
“Continued undermining of stability by Israel will lead to aggravation of tensions and create a real threat to security and stability in the region”, – said the statement of the administration of the President of Lebanon.
The UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plassaert, said the airstrike “has created panic and fear of renewed violence among those desperate for a return to normalcy.”
“We call on all parties to cease any actions that could further undermine the ceasefire agreement,” she added.
