“It’s only a matter of time”: Putin announced the inevitability of peace with Ukraine

In an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his belief in the inevitability of future reconciliation with Ukraine. Fragments of this conversation were included in the new documentary “Russia. The Kremlin. Putin. 25 years.” This is reported by “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.

Putin acknowledged that the parties are going through a tragic period in relations, and the restoration of relations between the two countries is only a matter of time. At the same time, he did not specify what exactly he sees as the format of the peace agreement or the conditions for the cessation of hostilities.

“I think it’s inevitable, despite all the tragedy we’re going through right now… It’s just a matter of time.” – clarified the Russian leader, answering the journalist’s question.

In addition, Putin emphasized that despite attempts at provocations aimed at forcing Russia to take false steps, there was no need to use nuclear weapons. He also expressed hope that such a need will not arise in the future.

His comments were made against the background of heightened rhetoric from the Kremlin on the eve of the May holidays and in the context of the active phase of hostilities on the eastern front in Ukraine. This is not the first time that Putin has mentioned the possibility of negotiations, but before that such statements were accompanied by harsh ultimatums.
