It will be more difficult to close imposed cards at Oschadbank: details of the scandal

Employees of the bank arbitrarily oblige to appear at the branch where they were issued.

Oschadbank has implemented a complex procedure for closing credit cards, which is often imposed on customers. In particular, the bank forces customers to contact the branch where the card was issued. This problem was raised in a complaint on the website Minfin, where customers leave feedback about the work of banks.

One of the clients of Oschadbank said that she opened a card to receive wages, but the bank issued her a credit card without her request. When trying to cancel the credit card, the operator explained that it was impossible because it was part of the tariff plan.

Later, the woman blocked the credit card through the Oschad mobile application and did not use it. After some time, a bank employee called her, asking her to unblock the card and use the credit funds.

When the woman decided to close the card due to a change of place of work, it turned out to be very difficult. To do this, she needed to reduce her credit limit to zero and close a blocked credit card. The bank employee informed that this can be done only in the branch where the card was issued. After contacting the information line, the client was told that she can close the card at any branch. In the end, the bank representative agreed to lower the credit limit, but only on the condition of a personal visit to the branch.

“I wanted to close the account, but it is impossible to do it online. First, I need to close a credit card, which I have never used. The bank employee said that this can only be done at the branch where the card was opened, since the credit limit must first be reduced to zero. On the information line told me that it is possible to close the credit card at any branch. After transferring this information, the bank employee still agreed to lower the credit limit, but to close the credit card and the account, she also said that she would be forced to write an explanation the manager, why exactly she closed the credit card”, – wrote the client.

The client emphasized that the experience of cooperation with Oschadbank was negative, and this practice of working with consumers is unacceptable, as it is not client-oriented.

“This is an unacceptable experience for a modern bank! Oschadbank should be customer-oriented, and not create artificial obstacles for closing accounts and credit cards“, the complaint states.
