Japan will transfer $3 billion to Ukraine for frozen Russian assets

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba announced that Tokyo will provide Ukraine with an additional $3 billion loan, which will be backed by proceeds from frozen Russian assets. About this reported President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi after a telephone conversation with Ishiba.

“I am grateful for the decision of the Japanese government to transfer another 3 billion dollars to Ukraine, secured by frozen Russian assets, and for additional assistance for energy equipment and the construction of shelters”, – noted Zelenskyi.

He also congratulated Shigeru Ishiba on his election as the head of the Japanese government and expressed his gratitude for the general support of Ukraine, which currently amounts to 12 billion dollars.

“Told Prime Minister Ishibi about Russia’s massive shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on Christmas night and thanked Japan for its willingness to work to achieve a just and lasting peace as soon as possible.” – emphasized the president.

It will be recalled that earlier Japan provided Ukraine with 235 million dollars in preferential financing for the implementation of World Bank projects aimed at supporting the education sector and the development of the private sector.
