The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany once again recommended refraining from traveling to Russia. “In our travel and security recommendations, we warn, in particular, about the risk of arbitrary arrests,” the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
About 1,300 Germans who declared their stay in Russia are registered in the anti-crisis list of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the same time, it is assumed that the number of Germans and people with dual citizenship on the territory of Russia is much higher.
According to the German Foreign Ministry, there are currently “a double-digit number of Germans” in prison in Russia, including those who have two passports. Russia has been denying them consular access for over two years.
