За його словами, використання протипіхотних мін лише погіршує ситуацію, створюючи додаткові гуманітарні загрози й ускладнюючи пошук ефективного вирішення конфлікту. “Президент Трамп неймовірно стурбований бійнею і питанням, як відновити стримування і як забезпечити мир”, – сказав Волтц, додавши, що Трамп розглядає потенційні дипломатичні важелі для змушення Росії сісти за стіл переговорів. Конгресмен раніше заявляв, що Дональд Трамп, у разі повернення на посаду президента, змусить Росію до переговорів, погрожуючи економічними санкціями, здатними “зруйнувати її економіку”. Волтц також неодноразово виступав із критикою військової допомоги Україні, акцентуючи увагу на необхідності зменшення ескалації конфлікту та пошуку альтернативних рішень.

Michael Waltz described the situation at the front as an “absolute meat grinder” of people and equipment, reminiscent of the battles of the First World War. According to him, the use of anti-personnel mines only worsens the situation, creating additional humanitarian threats and making it difficult to find an effective solution to the conflict.
“President Trump is incredibly concerned about the carnage and the question of how to restore deterrence and how to ensure peace”, Waltz said, adding that Trump is considering potential diplomatic leverage to force Russia to the negotiating table.
The congressman previously stated that Donald Trump, in the event of his return to the post of president, will force Russia to negotiate, threatening economic sanctions capable of “destroying its economy.” Voltz also repeatedly criticized military aid to Ukraine, emphasizing the need to reduce the escalation of the conflict and find alternative solutions.
