Children of war

Life through the darkness: the birth of a girl during a rocket attack on Lutsk

At a time when war is destroying cities and taking lives, there is something extraordinary that can cut through the darkness and stop the chaos for a moment – the birth of a child. Ukraine has been living in war conditions for almost three years now, but along with it – in parallel with death and destruction – another reality continues. People fall in love, get married, have children. Even in the dungeons of bomb shelters and delivery halls, which have become symbols of endurance and hope, a new generation of Ukrainians is taking its first breath. In these children lives the continuation of the nation, its future. Their first minutes of life pass to the sound of alarms, but they are already born strong, because their parents find the courage to live, love and believe in the best even during war.

Birth to the sounds of alarm

One of such stories, which became a vivid embodiment of the power of life, happened on November 28 in Lutsk. During the massive rocket attack, when the city shuddered from the explosions, a little girl was born in the underground shelter of the maternity hospital. About this reported in the Volyn Regional Medical Association. Her birth is a vivid example of the fact that even in the darkest times, life always finds a way, and people always find a reason for hope.

In this difficult time, the emergency team brought the expectant mother from the Rivne region to the Volyn Regional Medical Association. The woman, who was preparing to become a mother for the first time, did not know that her child would be born in such conditions.

At 8:00 a.m., a healthy girl was born in the specially equipped shelter of the medical institution, weighing 3 kg 30 g and 52 cm tall. This was the first delivery of a woman, who was attended by obstetrician Ihor Fedosyuk and midwife Iryna Zagoruyko. A small Ukrainian woman was born in an underground delivery room, deployed specifically to ensure the safety of mothers and babies during air raids.

Shelter that gives life

In the conditions of war, many medical institutions of Ukraine are forced to adapt to the realities of wartime. The perinatal center in Lutsk is one such example. In its bomb shelter, all the conditions have been created for giving birth even during rocket attacks. There is a full-fledged delivery room, an operating room and the necessary equipment, which is in constant use. Thanks to this, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 10 children have already been born in the shelter of the medical facility, and another 10 women have become mothers after cesarean sections.

Doctors and medical personnel work in extraordinary conditions, saving not only the lives of women and newborns, but also giving them the opportunity to meet the first breath of the world even in the most difficult circumstances.

A light of hope in dark times

A little girl who was born during the rocket fire has become a symbol that even in the darkest times, life does not stop. It is evidence that the Ukrainian people, despite all the horrors of the war, do not give up and continue to fight for the future.

This story is both touching and inspiring. She reminds us that hope is stronger than fear, and life always finds a way. Each birth in the conditions of war is not only a victory over death, but also a proof that the future of Ukraine continues to be formed here and now, in the most difficult conditions. And even when the sirens are blaring, and the sky overhead is darkened, there will always be a place for a new life – bright, clean and unbreakable.
