The first children’s carriage in Ukraine: protection and comfort during the war

In the conditions of the ongoing war in Ukraine, the issue of safety and comfort for families with children becomes especially important. Ukrainian Railways, taking into account the realities of today, presented the first children’s car, which provides proper conditions for small passengers and their parents. This initiative aims to support families forced to travel during martial law and to create safe conditions for the youngest citizens.
On August 8, train No. 15/16 Kharkiv – Yasinya will feature the first children’s carriage, which will run through Poltava, Kyiv, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk. This step by Ukrzaliznytsia is a response to the challenges faced by families with children in wartime conditions.
Comfort and safety for children
The carriage is equipped taking into account the special needs of small passengers and their parents. Children’s playpens are installed in the carriages, which provide a safe place for children to play and rest. In addition, changing tables are provided in the toilets, which makes caring for babies convenient and hygienic even during long trips.
In addition to comfort, children’s carriages are designed with safety aspects in mind. The car is equipped with special notification and protection systems that allow prompt response to emergency situations. In the conditions of martial law, this is extremely important, because it provides an additional level of safety for small passengers.
An important part of the children’s carriage is the creation of conditions that contribute to the psychological comfort of children. A cozy atmosphere, play areas and the opportunity to rest help children to distract themselves from the stressful situation around them and maintain emotional balance.
Route and availability of tickets
The first children’s car will run as part of train #15/16 Kharkiv – Yasinya, passing through such important cities as Poltava, Kyiv, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk. Tickets for this car are already available for purchase, but only through the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile application. For adult passengers, the ticket price does not differ from the usual one, while for children under 5 years of age, the trip will be free.
Reasons for the introduction of children’s carriages
In times of war, families are often forced to leave their homes in search of safe places to live. Ukrzaliznytsia responds to these challenges by creating conditions for safe movement of families with children. The children’s car provides the appropriate level of comfort and safety, which is extremely important in today’s conditions.
The war caused large-scale internal migration of the population. Children’s wagons can become an important element of support for internally displaced persons, providing comfortable conditions for traveling in search of new places to live.
Creating conditions for the comfortable movement of children and their parents during the war is an important aspect of maintaining the morale of the population. Ukrzaliznytsia shows concern for its passengers, which contributes to maintaining faith in a better future and strengthening social unity.
Ukrzaliznytsia demonstrates its social responsibility by providing special conditions for traveling with children. This is an important aspect in the context of the general policy of corporate social responsibility in Ukraine, aimed at supporting families with children and improving their quality of life.
Ukrzaliznytsia does not plan to rest on its laurels and promises to launch seven more such cars by the end of the year. This means that more and more families will be able to enjoy comfortable and safe rail travel. The introduction of such cars is an important step in the development of the transport infrastructure of Ukraine, which will contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens.
