Luxembourg plans to purchase €80 million worth of weapons for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine next year

Luxembourg allocated 80 million euros for the purchase of weapons for the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in 2025. These funds will be used to purchase drones, surveillance systems, electronic warfare and other necessary equipment. About this told Maria Mezentseva, deputy head of the Committee on Integration of Ukraine with the EU.

“Luxembourg, for the first time in the history of this small but wealthy state, has decided on direct financing: more than 200 million euros have been allocated since February 2022, and another 80 million are planned for 2025 for the purchase of Ukrainian weapons. These include drones and surveillance systems, and REB”, – said the people’s deputy.

Mezentseva also emphasized that Luxembourg and Ukraine actively cooperate in the field of satellite communication and drone production, some of which are created directly on the territory of Luxembourg. The state also participates in the F-16 training coalition and finances the training of Ukrainian pilots on American fighters.

Currently, Luxembourg plays an important role in supporting Ukraine, making efforts to ensure that the Council of Europe continues to use its resources and expertise to help the millions of Ukrainians affected by the war.
