During his career, Michel played 72 matches for the national team, in which he scored forty-one times (more than any French footballer). In fifty matches, he went on the field with the captain’s armband. In 1984, he led the French national team to victory at the European Championship. “France Football” magazine recognized him as the best player of the 20th century in France. He is the only football player who was awarded the “Golden Ball” award three years in a row.

In January 2007, Platini was elected president of UEFA. Since January 2020, he is an adviser to the president of the International Federation of Professional Footballers’ Associations.

A few life quotes of the great football player:

  • “No matter what happens, you can never turn back time.”
  • “The most boring thing is to constantly dig into myself. I spent more time explaining why I made the choice I did than making the choice itself.”
  • “I will always fight to the end.”
  • “Age is not a woman, you can’t fool him.”
