Microsoft requires employees to use its own AI tools

Microsoft requires its employees to more actively implement artificial intelligence tools in their daily work, and is also considering the possibility of including this criterion in the official annual staff evaluation. About this informs Business Insider.

The President of the Developer Division, Julia Luson, who is responsible for services for developers, including GitHub Copilot, said in an address to the heads of divisions:

“AI is no longer an option, but a mandatory part of the job.”

She emphasized that the use of artificial intelligence should be valued at the same level as skills such as teamwork and analytical thinking.

The goal of the innovations is to encourage employees to use services like GitHub Copilot, which is an AI-based tool for code generation, more widely. According to Barclays analysts, Copilot is currently facing increased competition, in particular from the Cursor platform, which in certain segments is already ahead of Copilot among developers.

At the same time, Microsoft allows employees to use third-party solutions as long as they comply with security standards, such as the popular Replit tool.

We will remind you that on June 6, Microsoft became the most expensive company in the world by market capitalization, ahead of Nvidia and Apple. The company’s shares rose 0.8% to $467.68 apiece, an 11-month high.
