Google has decided to increase the security of Android apps
Google recommends that Android developers use the Play Integrity API to verify the security of the environment in which apps run. As informs Android Authority, innovations are designed to provide reliable protection without compromising the functionality of applications.
Ensuring security in today’s software is a complex task: insufficient protection opens the way for malware, and excessive security measures can affect the performance of applications. The new Play Integrity updates aim to fine-tune this balance by allowing Android apps to function only under conditions specified by developers.
Play Integrity allows you to check if the phone running the app is rooted. For years, there has been a dispute between developers and users seeking to bypass such checks. However, Google claims that the changes to the API will make it harder to fake attestation checks and make it much harder to run an app in an undesired environment.
It also affects users who install apps from third-party sources. Play Integrity now checks if the installation was done through the Play Store. Google predicts that with new API updates, some apps will stop working on devices unless they were downloaded from the official store.
