‘Missing is not the same as forgotten”: the Day of the Terrorist Defence Forces was celebrated on Maidan
On Sunday, October 6, a peaceful action called “Women of the People’s Republic of Ukraine” took place on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, dedicated to the Day of the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine. The event brought together more than a hundred representatives of the families of fallen, missing, and captured Teroborona fighters from more than 20 brigades. About this informs Public.
The action began with a chaplain’s prayer and a moment of silence in memory of the fallen defenders. For many participants, it was the first such event, such as for Oksana, whose brother has been missing for four months.
“We came to be heard”, she shared.
Nataliya Maistruk was also among the participants of the action, whose father, a soldier of the 120th TrO brigade, went missing. According to her, of the seven battalions of the brigade, only one soldier is known to be officially in captivity, while more than a hundred soldiers are considered missing.
Another participant of the action was Tamila, whose son died on March 7, 2023 in Bakhmut along with his department. She came to support those whose relatives also disappeared.
“I didn’t get the body, but I know for sure that he died. They were shot, and then the area was covered with shelling”, – said Tamila, hoping to find at least the remains of her son Vasyl one day.
