More than 125 tons of oil hit Sukhy Lyman due to Russian shelling

In the Odesa region, as a result of Russian shelling, more than 125 tons of sunflower oil fell into the Dry Estuary, which caused losses of UAH 10.9 billion. About this reported State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District.

According to the report, the incident occurred in October 2024 during another air attack by Russia, which significantly damaged the port infrastructure of the Odesa region. However, the scale of the consequences became known only now.

During this time, specialists collected the necessary materials for a detailed analysis and calculation of damages, which made it possible to assess the real extent of environmental damage.

Such large-scale accidents emphasize the importance of preventive measures. Ukrainian enterprises, especially those working with potentially dangerous substances, should pay more attention to effective mechanisms for preventing environmental consequences in wartime, which will help minimize risks to the environment.” – emphasized in the inspection.
