More than 20,000 Ukrainians applied to recruitment centres: how many of them joined the military

As of October 6, 2024, 20,150 citizens applied to the recruiting centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Of these, 1,726 people have already started serving in the Defense Forces or will join the army in the near future. Such information made public The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on its official Telegram channel.
In addition, 5,091 of these people are currently considered as potential candidates for various units of the Armed Forces. The agency noted that recruiting centers offer more than 10,000 vacancies. Among the most popular specialties are unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators, staff workers and medics.
Currently, there are 40 recruiting centers operating in Ukraine. At the end of September, a new center opened in Ternopil, and in the city of Konotop, in the Sumy region, the fourth recruiting center in this region recently started work.
Recruiting centers are a pilot project of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the purpose of which is to build a transparent and effective system of attracting Ukrainians to military service. In these centers, recruiters provide full information about available vacancies, and also accompany candidates at all stages of the process of selection and appointment to military positions.
It is important to note that from October 1, 2024, Ukrainians who wish to voluntarily join the ranks of the Defense Forces can independently choose the military unit or unit they want to join. This innovation allows commanders of military units to call conscripts directly, without the involvement of territorial recruitment centers and social support.
