People’s Deputy Mar’yana Bezugla named homosexuality as a “psychophysiological deviation from the norm” and noted that this issue should be considered from a “scientific point of view”.
“Being a representative of LGBT is not a norm, but a psychophysiological deviation from the norm. These are conditions that accompany a person throughout his life. They impose certain restrictions on the realization of the individual — both physical and social.” she emphasized.
Bezugla also raised the topic of obesity, calling it a disease that needs treatment, and spoke against “promoting deviations as the norm.” She emphasized that the current practice of quotas is inappropriate, because encouragement should be based on individual abilities, and not on belonging to a certain group.
This statement caused a negative reaction from the “Military LGBT+” organization. Its representatives noted that such statements offend many Ukrainian military personnel who risk their lives every day for the sake of the country’s future. In their opinion, it is the Russian authorities who use anti-LGBTQ+ propaganda as a weapon, claiming that they are fighting against the “moral decay” of the West.
