Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has sharply criticized the peace plan proposed by China and Brazil to end the war, describing it as “destructive” and pre-agreed with the Kremlin. He emphasized that this plan is only a “political declaration” that does not take into account the real circumstances of the war.
As informs Metropoles, Zelenskyi noted that he offered Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to discuss this issue together, but expressed surprise at the position of Brazil, which, according to him, chose a “middle” line and supports Russia.
“Their proposal is also destructive, it’s just a political statement. I said to the president of Brazil: ‘Let’s sit down and talk.’ – noted Zelensky.
In addition, he condemned the pro-Russian position of Brazil, stressing that the country occupies an uncertain position in the context of the war in Eastern Europe. Zelensky also expressed his disappointment that Brazilian President Lula da Silva is betting on “political appeasement” instead of taking an active position in resolving the conflict.
“I had a good conversation with President Lula and I thought he understood me. I was grateful for our meeting and was completely open. However, instead of active action, Lula chose political appeasement.”, — added Zelensky.
He stressed that he expected more understanding from Lula after their meeting, but noted that Brazil’s efforts for a peaceful solution remain fruitless because Russian leader Vladimir Putin, whom Zelensky called a “murderer,” has no intention of ending the war.
