Elon Musk, the famous entrepreneur and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, is increasingly integrated into the political sphere of the United States, demonstrating considerable influence in the circle of the newly elected President Donald Trump. He supported the Republican leader during the election campaign and now plans to take an important role in his administration. However, according to experts, such an alliance may be unstable and short-lived due to the impulsive nature of Trump and the ambition of Musk himself.
Candidate of political sciences, expert on Central and Eastern Europe Ivan Preobrazhenskyi expressed himself regarding the prospects of such an alliance. In his opinion, Elon Musk believes that Trump owes him his presidency, and this can cause tension in their relationship. Musk is known for his tendency to promote his own initiatives, which often come into conflict with political realities.
Preobrazhensky emphasizes that Musk is too intrusive, and Trump does not tolerate people who can draw attention to themselves. Should a conflict arise between the two, Musk’s political opponents will be quick to use his past mistakes, including allegations of stock market manipulation, as leverage. The president-elect praised Musk for his support during the election campaign, but some of Trump’s advisers are already expressing concerns about the collaboration. Musk can quickly bore the president because of his activity and unpredictability, which makes his position in the administration quite shaky.
The Department of Government Efficiency, which will be headed by Musk and Ramaswamy, involves large-scale personnel changes. In particular, we are talking about the dismissal of hundreds, and possibly thousands, of civil servants. This approach is already causing a wave of criticism, because it can lead to interruptions in the work of government institutions and create a negative image for the administration. Preobrazhensky emphasizes that both heads of this department risk becoming the object of serious public criticism, and their anti-rating can reach phenomenal proportions. However, Musk himself, as always, demonstrates confidence in his actions and willingness to take on the most difficult tasks, regardless of the risks.
According to the expert, the key problem of this alliance is the opposition of two strong and unstable characters. Elon Musk is always eager to implement his own vision, while Donald Trump is known for his intolerance of people trying to impose their own agenda on him. Ultimately, such cooperation could turn into a conflict, which would not only damage Musk’s reputation, but also weaken the position of the Trump administration. Ambitious plans for bureaucratic reforms and personnel purges may provoke social and political opposition, especially given the scale of the planned changes. Despite these risks, Musk continues to promote his idea of effective management, but his methods and style could cause significant problems for both himself and the Trump administration.
We will remind, as reported by foreign media, Musk, together with Vivek Ramaswamy, should head the newly created Department of Government Efficiency. This structure is designed to introduce reforms in the state bureaucracy, carry out personnel purges and increase the efficiency of civil servants. The idea of creating such a department came to Trump during his first presidential term, when he faced serious problems in the work of the administrative apparatus. The new department should become a tool in the fight against bureaucracy, but this activity is already causing a significant resonance.
