Musk’s team uses AI to search officials for hostile attitudes towards Trump

Elon Musk’s DOGE tech team is using artificial intelligence to monitor government officials’ messages for hostility toward President Donald Trump and his policies. About this informs Reuters.
Most aspects of Musk’s government efficiency department remain shrouded in secrecy. Civil servants have already suffered significant losses due to mass layoffs and cost cutting. The DOGE team also uses the Signal app to communicate, which violates federal record-keeping requirements because messages can disappear after a set amount of time.
The use of artificial intelligence and Signal heightens the concerns of cybersecurity experts and government officials about the limited transparency of the DOGE’s activities. They worry that Musk or the Trump administration could use data collected through AI to advance their interests or achieve political goals.
Kathleen Clark, an expert on government ethics at the University of Washington, said DOGE’s use of Signal raises concerns about their methods.
“If they use Signal and don’t save every message in the federal archives, that’s a violation of the law.” she declared.
It will be recalled that last month, high-ranking officials of the Trump administration were criticized for mistakenly including a journalist in a group chat regarding the planning of military operations in Yemen.
