NABU reported suspicion to the prosecutor who facilitated the illegal appropriation of grain worth 12 million hryvnias

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has informed the prosecutor of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office that he is suspected of aiding in the illegal seizure of 1.56 thousand tons of grain worth almost 12 million hryvnias. About this informs NABU press office.

The investigation established that the scheme consisted of a multi-stage seizure of grain from the State Reserve, which was stored at the state-owned enterprise “Hlibna baza No. 76”. The participants created the appearance of transferring about 1,500 tons of grain from a private company for responsible storage to this state-owned enterprise.

Later, under the pretext of fulfilling the terms of the contract, it was planned to export grain to the State Reserve, disguising it as removal from storage. To partially cover the shortage, approximately 700 tons were to be written off as waste after purported health measures. In May 2021, the participants of the scheme began to remove grain from the state-owned enterprise, but detectives of the National Bureau intervened and prevented the theft of state property worth more than 11.5 million hryvnias.

In this case, the suspicion was previously reported to the acting general director of the state-owned enterprise, the director of the company — his close relative, as well as the organizer of the scheme. The indictment against these persons has already been sent to the court, and the materials against the prosecutor have been separated into a separate proceeding.
