The National Bank of Ukraine issued a commemorative coin “Absolute”, dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian boxer, the absolute world champion in super heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk. About this reported on the official website of the National Bank.

“Thanks to his (Usyk. – ed.) invincible strength of spirit and indomitable faith, the whole world knows that even in the most difficult times, Ukrainians are capable of great achievements,” said the head of the National Bank Andrii Pyshnyi.

The obverse of the coin depicts a traditional Crimean Tatar ornament on a mirror background, symbolizing the Crimean origin of Usyk. This ornament was part of the athlete’s image during the “battle of looks” before the fight for the title of absolute world champion, reminding of the inseparable connection of Crimea with Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin shows a stylized image of Oleksandr Usyk against the background of the “Motherland” monument, symbolizing the indomitability and strength of the Ukrainian people. Below are the dates and titles: 05/18/2024 (fight date), “ABSOLUTE” and “UNDISPUTED”.

The design of the coin was created by Oleksandra Kuchynska, and the sculptors are Volodymyr Atamanchuk and Volodymyr Demyanenko. The commemorative coin has a denomination of 5 hryvnias, is made of nickel silver, and its circulation is up to 50,000 pieces.

Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBO, WBA and WBC heavyweight belts, continues to be at the top of The Ring magazine’s ranking of the best boxers in the world. In May 2024, he defeated Britain’s Tyson Fury, becoming the first absolute heavyweight champion of the world in the last 25 years and the first in the era of four belts.
