For the 10th anniversary of the National Police of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine introduced a new circulation commemorative coin “National Police of Ukraine”. It is dedicated to honoring the professionalism, courage and dedication of law enforcement officers who ensure the safety of citizens every day. A new coin presented Deputy Chairman of the NBU Oleksiy Shaban and Chief of the National Police Ivan Vyhivskyi.
“Ten years ago, the first patrols of the fundamentally new National Police took to the streets of Ukraine, opening a special page in the history of Ukrainian statehood. This became the embodiment of a true philosophy of service, where law, justice and humanity are the main guideposts. Today, the National Police of Ukraine is a reliable shield and support for the country, at the front and in the rear. That is why our new circulating commemorative coin is not just a money token, but a symbol respect and gratitude to the Ukrainian policemen for choosing to steadfastly stand guard over the law, law and order, and the protection of the lives of our citizens every day.” – stressed Oleksiy Shaban.
Ivan Vyhivskyi thanked the NBU for the initiative and emphasized its importance:
“This is an honor and respect for the policemen who, at the front and in the rear, perform their work every day. Of course, this is an honor to all our policemen who have died. It is very important and symbolic for us that this coin is presented today – on the tenth anniversary of the creation of the National Police of Ukraine. Today, thousands of policemen at the front continue to repel the enemy as part of the Security and Defense Forces. We confidently say that the police are at war. Under fire and during attacks – we the first ones there, not danger, to save our people and document Russia’s crimes.” – he addressed the audience.
The 10 hryvnias commemorative coin is made of a zinc-based alloy with a nickel coating. The obverse repeats the design of the 2018 circulation coin: in the center is the denomination, the year of issue and the State Coat of Arms of Ukraine, framed by an Old Russian ornament.
The reverse contains a stylized composition depicting representatives of various police units, symbolizing professionalism and dedication. Above the composition is the emblem of the National Police, an eight-pointed star with a small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine in the center. In the circle it is written: at the top – “NATIONAL POLICE OF UKRAINE”, at the bottom – “SERVE AND PROTECT”. The design of the reverse was created by Alisa Ivanova, and the obverse was created by Volodymyr Demyanenko.
The coin will be accepted as a means of payment at face value on par with other circulating coins. The NBU will gradually distribute them through banks and SIT companies. In total, about 10 million pieces will be put into circulation.
Part of the circulation will be formed into rolls of 25 coins, packed in souvenir paper with the emblem of the National Police on the background of the national flag. The total circulation is 20,000. rollers It will be possible to purchase them from July 8, 2025 in the online store of numismatic products of the NBU (12 thousand rolls), as well as in distributor banks, the list of which is posted on the NBU website.
