New limits on money transfers will come into effect in Ukraine from June 1

Starting from June 1, 2025, Ukrainian banks will reduce the monthly limit on money transfers from 150 to 100 thousand hryvnias. The changes will apply both to transfers between cards and to transactions using IBAN details. About this it is said in the memorandum signed by the largest Ukrainian banks.

Almost all banks will introduce these restrictions on outgoing transfers. 51 banks and two non-bank financial institutions joined the memorandum. Only a few financial organizations remained outside the scope of the agreements — their share in the market of services for individuals and FOPs is insignificant.

For clients with a high level of risk, the limit will remain unchanged — 50,000 hryvnias per month. The restrictions will not apply to those customers who have verified sources of income, including salaried customers and volunteers.

It will be recalled that in December 2024, the leading banks of the country signed a memorandum, according to which, starting from February 1, 2025, the maximum amounts of money transfers were established: 150,000 hryvnias for low- and medium-risk clients and 50,000 hryvnias for high-risk clients.

With the introduction of new rules regarding card transfers, banks are noticing certain changes in customer behavior. In particular, in order to bypass the established limits, many users open accounts in several banks or more often choose transfers using IBAN details. At the same time, some of the clients, in order to avoid possible risks, began to pay more attention to even the usual small transfers – for example, when transferring funds to relatives or acquaintances.
