The Russian army is trying to break through the border in the Sumy region: the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine
Russian units are trying to break into the territory of Sumy region, trying to surround the Defense Forces, which are in the Kursk region. About this reported Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the DPSU.
“To say that the Russians broke through the border there (in Sumy Oblast) is incorrect. Of course, in an attempt to oust the Defense Forces from Kursk Oblast, the Russians are carrying out dozens of assaults. In order to develop their success, they are also trying to cross our border line in order to encircle our forces that are in Kursk Oblast.” Demchenko noted.
He emphasized that the main task is to prevent the enemy from crossing the state border.
“Because this is their task and this is what we are currently fixing in the direction of the settlement of Novenke”, – clarified the spokesperson.
According to him, the enemy does not have the opportunity to use heavy equipment in this direction, so it attempts to cross the border in small assault groups. They have the task of penetrating the Ukrainian territory as much as possible, gaining a foothold and expanding the combat zone. Demchenko also reported that over the past day, about 20 occupiers were killed in this area, and about 15 more were injured.
